Jorge Contreras

Jorge Andrés Contreras Calderón is Of Counsel to the firm and its point of contact with Asia. He holds a PhD in law from Universidad de los Andes and a master's in Chinese law from Renmin University of China, and practices from Beijing in property law, contracts and foreign investment, focusing on the economic relations between Colombia and China.

His doctoral research compared land property rights and rural development in Colombia and China. He was a senior associate of the firm and, for twelve years, professor and researcher at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in property law, civil and commercial contracts and economic analysis of law.

Medal of Academic Merit from the Ministry of National Education: first place in Colombia's national law examination (2009).

Taiwan Fellowship, with the Institute of Economics of Academia Sinica, Taiwan (2022).

Scholarship from the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China for the master's in Chinese law at Renmin University (2016).
