Since 1988 we have represented companies and public entities in the matters where the most is at stake: assets, contracts and reputation. Before courts, before arbitral tribunals and before the State.
Our firm
The complementarity of private and public law.
The firm was founded in 1988 by Jaime Arrubla Paucar, former President and Justice of the Supreme Court of Justice, and by Consuelo Devis Saavedra, consultant, litigator and professor of constitutional and administrative law. It was born as a private-law firm, with civil and commercial litigation at its core.
Since 2014 the firm has broadened its reach with lawyers who had run the State from within, among them Camilo Gómez Alzate, former Superintendent of Companies and former Director of the National Agency for the Legal Defense of the State. That addition did not create one more practice area: it changed what the firm can do, because the major matters in this country almost always have a private and a public side at the same time.
Today we are a team of more than twenty-five lawyers, with offices in Medellín and Bogotá, serving Colombian and foreign companies, public entities and business families.

Private and public law under one roof
Few firms in Colombia combine commercial litigation, business advisory and public law with the same depth. That experience comes into play when a private contract ends in a dispute with a public entity, which is where it is needed most. Our partners have headed the National Agency for the Legal Defense of the State and the Superintendency of Companies, and have served as general secretaries of a ministry, a department, a district and public utility companies.

Authority recognized by third parties
Chambers and Partners ranked the firm in Dispute Resolution in the Chambers Latin America 2027 guide, the first edition in which it appears in that directory, which decides on the basis of independent interviews with clients, competitors and peers. The Legal 500 ranks the firm in Litigation and Arbitration and recognizes two partners individually. The founding partner has served as an arbitrator at the Medellín, Bogotá and Cartagena chambers of commerce for more than thirty years.
